cooking with kids


 We made strawberry syrup in our little cooking class the other day.We just boiled about 2 lbs of fresh farmers’ market berries with 2-3 cups of water until it was a pale pink mush, strained the syrup into a pot and added 3/4 cup of sugar over heat until it dissolved. The girls added it to seltzer to make fresh strawberry soda which Lena, in her genius 5 year old way, says sounds better than it tastes.
Me, I used it to sweeten my hibiscus iced tea.
